Locksmiths

By Indi Riverflow | June 4, 2014

There’s buried treasure
Forgotten and hidden
Maps to pleasures
Long forbidden
Means to measure
Myriad dimensions
And blueprints for cultures
Awaiting invention

No one knows what shines inside
This gold that shows
What our blinders hide
Only that it glows
Like the torch of stellar guides
Sparking up the Zodiac
When a star’s giving birth
With the force of a thundercrack
At the dawn of Earth

{Chorus}
Can we bear to stare
At the Universe undressed?
We can only guess
Unless we are free
If this fire lights the way
Or burns our eyes
Displays the truth
Or a new set of lies

Rogue locksmiths tinkering
With secrets of alchemy
Testing ring after ring
Of untried molecular keys
Exploring the underbelly
Of cosmic chemistry

The heart’s wild hackers
And the soul’s safe-crackers
All want inside this vault
But there’s always some sentry
Guarding every entry
Waving guns and crying halt

{Chorus}

Shelves of strange potions
Born of chemical devotion
In the lab where many kinds
Of magical logic combine
Unlocking the mind’s design
One atom at a time

Together they ventured
Beneath the neural firmament
Detailing each experiment
Meticulous and miraculous
Tracking lost passages
To the catacombs of bliss
