Flight Plans

By Indi Riverflow | June 12, 2013

I’ve heard it many times observed
It’s all in how you take the curves
Every storm you swerve
Just more fire for the nerves

Running down the oily runway
Waylaid by connection delays
Swinging signs of wired semaphore
Wringing hands of tired metaphor

It’s hard to hear you down on the ground
While you fly by at the speed of sound
Could have sworn this was a stop on your list
But in all the noise I must have missed this

{Chorus}
We all sometimes arrive a little late
And we all leave someone hangin’ at the gate
At least I’m piling my frequent crier miles
Won’t you pardon me while
I go repaint my smile

Patience might be quite the virtue
I guess its feels like I’m chasing curfew
And maybe I get caught up in the rush
But if I don’t I’ll be slammed in the crush

Now if we made our successes
The way we make our excuses
We’d be right now on a flight bound for Mars
A pit stop on our way to some new-found stars

All the rules say to cool my jets
But not a year has made me younger yet
On the nonstop red-eye from the womb to the tomb
You’ll know where I was by the subsonic boom
Yeah, you’ll know where I was by the subsonic boom
