Tributary

By Indi Riverflow | September 21, 2014

Never mind me, I’ve got an eight-track mind
The kind that isn’t built to ever rewind
Fast forward, fast forward
In the current there’s only one way to go
Toward the future as the river flows

Just a channel of a tributary
And you can call me anything but lazy
Rushing rapids, rushing rapids
Mountains stand still, but I’m in a hurry
And probably will be for eternity

{Chorus}
Panning sentiments
For whatever seems to glow
Toes buried in sediment
Knee-deep in indigo
Always an experiment
In the riverflow

A river lives between the lines
Filling in the Earth’s cracked design
Drink deeply, think deeply
The papyrus reeds hieroglyphic signs
Where ancient ideas remain enshrined

I say my way is the high way
Never yet has led me astray
Washing away, washing away
The dirt of many derelict days
Clinging on to crusty feet of clay

{Chorus}

You’ll find I don’t mind heading downhill
Inclined to bend toward gravity’s will
Everyone loves to watch a waterfall
Sloppy and wet, it’s my nature to spill
Wherever there’s a fault to fill

The stream is a creature of reflection
Knowing only its own direction
Following the golden hollow
Oozing from the pores of conception
In search of the perfect imperfection
