Good Friday Experiment
By Indi Riverflow | October 21, 2011
Siren calls you on
Promising to explain
When all of this is done
Find it in the mind
Or among the coral reefs
Drift in the aquatic deep
To dream or perchance
Eternally sleep
Meet you in the Chapel
We’ll see how deep it goes
Toss the golden apple
Between the wooden rows
The serpent bids you bite
Just a slice of forbidden fruit
Sample some shamanic sight
Before you don your preacher’s suit
What is this fire in our eyes
This crazy little thing called god?
Can it ever be quantified
Sized up and demystified?
Let’s try an experiment
Can we scan the mystic
Make the soul self-evident
By the light of sight fantastic?
Come ye faithful seekers
This little pill will be your guide
Oh, we’ll study divinity
Check out the view inside
What visions will reveal
What wonders will spill
From the ethereal sea?
Let us don our white coats
Complete the quest of alchemy
What is this fire in our eyes
This crazy little thing called god?
Can it ever be quantified
Sized up and demystified?
Let us come together
Pray in Science’s name
Learn what kind of faith we find
Taking communion of a different kind
They could not put the genie
Back into the lamp
Could not shut Pandora’s box
With their secret stamp
To touch the depths
It is a dangerous thing
Dancing with death
As the siren sweetly sings
