Tempest In A Teacup
By Indi Riverflow | June 20, 2014
You can’t eat the cake and have it served with wine
Oh, that gallows humor straightens the spine
But if the set-up is strung with six feet of twine
Who’s hanging around for the punchline?
They said that Dante wrote comedies
But they didn’t seem all that funny to me
Who hasn’t laughed at pratfall tragedy
Removed from proximity
When the scenario’s fit for parody
Humor’s just a matter of degree
What’s the trouble?
Another kerfuffle
Oh, no, somebody burst a bubble
We’ll light a candle
For the latest struggle
{Chorus}
It’s a tempest in a teacup
And the kettle’s burning up
Screaming it’s the pot that’s hot
And the fire’s in on the plot
Turning downsides to upshots
Takes more patience than I’ve got
We’re all less than impressed
So let’s do our best to give it a rest
You know I have no use for enemies
Even less for friends like these
That ten heavens wouldn’t please
Unless Hell would also freeze
This petty air makes me sneeze
Setting off all sorts of allergies
Oh, it’s an errand fit for a Fool
Making waves in shallow pools
Starting starships with lighter fuel
Numb to rumbles of ridicule
Under the hot button but staying cool
Cause this moment is miniscule
What’s the trouble?
Another kerfuffle
Oh no, somebody burst a bubble
We’ll light a candle
For the latest struggle
