Paperclip Latch
By Indi Riverflow | July 30, 2013
Rubbernecked struts and pillars of guilt
Paper-thin door held by paperclip latch
Ok, I give up, now who’s got a match?
{Chorus}
I’m a person by legal fiction
Your friendly global corporation
I was never elected
And never crowned
But I’m running the world
Right into the ground
Staked my claim on a land mine field
Not much metal below but a hell of a yield
The overhead’s low and no one’s employed
Just haul in the scrap when more dreams are destroyed
Earned my keep on a heap of false hopes
Don’t ask how I sleep, man it ain’t easy to cope
If you only knew about my panic attacks
Scared the sheep’ll want their fleeces back
{Chorus}
Paved my highway over a pile of rust
Using good intentions and misplaced trust
There’s only one exit, at the end of the line
Half a smile past the Abandon Hope sign
{Chorus}
