Own You Back
By Indi Riverflow | July 9, 2012
Where you dare not be late
A silver claim on which to dig
That now controls your fate
Chasing carrots and fleeing stress
Slaving for freedom and finding less
{Chorus}
All these things which give you slack
Turn around and take it back
Mind’s in a bind
And body’s on loan
Who’s tossing the bones?
Who is the owner, and who is owned?
Scrapbooks full of pale glories
All these stories you think are yours
Collecting another set of worries
And another set of chores
You might wonder what this game is for
And why one bothers keeping score
{Chorus}
You may have set beliefs
That guide your every choice
Offering comfort and relief
In a soothing hypnotizing voice
Never imagining the worlds you’ve lost
On the straight arrow narrow path
If you knew what those easy answers cost
Heaven would be facing your wrath
{Chorus}
You may even marshal armies
And tanks at your command
Warships flanking all the seas
And parading marching bands
Drumming up false loyalties
For all your brilliant plans
But when the lean and hungry
Crave the dominion in your hands
They’ll cut you down just to be free
All your towers on all your land
Will devour your power and bury
Ozymandius where you stand
{Chorus}
