Less Epic

By Indi Riverflow | March 30, 2012

I got something up my sleeve
A trick which will drop your jaw
So slick it’ll bend what you believe
And have you question what you saw
Once you’ve seen a giant rabbit
Pull wizards from a black top hat
The only conclusion left to draw
Is this might be sanity’s last straw

{Chorus}
I’ve got a kettlepot cooking
Whipping up a messy recipe
Of holiness and sin
All I’ve perceived
And all I have been
All I’ve attempted
And all I’ve achieved
It’s less epic than you’d imagine
And more amazing than you’d believe

I keep wonders under my hat
Ancient secrets studded in trust
Scribbled oracles folded flat
Ironies encrusted with rust
Poor prophets try to tell what’s true
When vision is all in angle of view
We’re all doing what we must
Before our stories disperse to dust

I hear the pulsing of my heart
Golden age on the stage unveiled
Triggered by the state of the start
And all the art we have inhaled
Driven by a deep desire to give
A present to all who dare to live
The epic tale of how we prevailed
And the less epic tale of how we failed
