Jack of Knacks

By Indi Riverflow | March 8, 2012

I’m a painter with sounds
Mechanic of totaled hearts
Conductor of cut-up clowns
And fluent in six tongues of art

Born ready for a Renaissance
In an age of science fiction
A creature created by a world of wants
Where the best lack all conviction

They say it’s written in the Will
That the meek shall inherit the Earth
Let’s get that page to probate court
Before another bomb gives birth

{Chorus}
I’ve got eyes on the back of my back
Always on point to take up the slack
I’m a jack of all knacks
Master of hacks
On the wrong track
Slipping through all the right cracks

My leaders were mostly liars
So I sought the self-evident
Sparking fires in live wires
With drive-by enlightenment

Knee-deep in ruins as I trace
Eroded signs left behind
Puzzle pieces into place
Guessing my best and reckoning blind

I’m the very modular
Modern major generalist
Bringing in to being
Whatever needs to exist
My specialty is adaptability
And the will to persist
On a wave of creativity
No fortress can resist
