Moment of Zen

By Indi Riverflow | June 25, 2014

Wakin’ up touchy and cranky
Tryin’ to shake my own skin
Feels so terribly itchy
And unbearably thin
Must be some kind of allergy
Or just reality kicking in

It’ll be quite a confession
But I won’t call it a sin
I’m just not who I was back then
I’m not sorry that it happened
Only about when
It wasn’t my intention
But I’d do it all over again

{Chorus}
There’s no time like the present
To have that talk about the future
No time like the present
To put those dreams out to pasture
Here it is, my moment of zen
Pluck my lucky clover and count to ten
Then waltz right into the lion’s den
And hope that we can still be friends

My ripped trousers need some mending
Never mind the fences I’m straddling
Disaster perpetually pending
And the close calls are never ending
But the dreaded deadline keeps extending

The orchard’s a secret for tranquility’s sake
But the fruit looks ripe and ready to shake
We’ve reached the point of bend or break
See how much rattling this house can take
At the epicenter of a full-blown truthquake

{Chorus}

Delivering last year’s news
Headline unread and printed in blues
And that ticking time-bomb can’t be defused
I wish you’d just read the ten-foot clues
But we all live in the illusions we choose

The words that weigh ten thousand pounds
If I could only make myself make the sounds
For this one might bring the house down
Better turn you on to what’s going around
Before it becomes the talk of the town
