Now What?

By Indi Riverflow | January 19, 2015

Now what what now?
And who and where and when and how
The skyscape grey and thick with wonder
Dripping silver rain and golden thunder
Who now will color the numbers with notes
Who now will paint the dawn with immortal quotes
What will blossom in the wake of the dead
After planting a chip of ice-nine in your head
But that lost ship has long since sailed
And that train of thought has been derailed

{Chorus}
Now we’d best figure out some future
As skeletons assume
Room temperature
Well, the unknown remains no less vast
But at least we can dance away the past

Let us carve our names in the feast
From the loftiest to the very least
Raise empty cups in a booming toast
Weep and fill ballrooms with empty boasts
Who would dare to stand on ceremony
Sipping wine flavored with ashes and acrimony
As the phantoms rise up to speak
Howling, haunting, ghostly tongues in cheek
Better put your actions where your notions are
Or this spaceship’s not going to get very far

Now’s a phase we’re zipping through
Here’s a space which follows you
I tell you, they knew the brew
A dash of old and splash of new
Something borrowed and something true
It’s all smoke and mirrors from the fan’s-eye view
But it’s still crystal clear from the fan’s-eye view

Now we pony up and play
Lay down an ace a deuce or a trey
Wild multitudes milling and scattered
As another fragile fantasyland shatters
Look at the armies of schism a-risin’
Numinous clouds looming off the horizon
Stumbling and rumbling toward resurrection
A thousand heads casting in every direction
Chasing rainbows and hunting untold gold
Hidden in folds a half-century old

Love it so much. Beauty lies with you here (and esp over there, where, you dare to reside)

    Love and love,
