Eleventeen Reasons

By Indi Riverflow | July 14, 2014

What sacred cows shall we roast today?
Feeling completely absurd and a little risquè
Nay-sayers please stay out of the way
We’re pulling off the impossible anyway

This world’s just your mind inside-out
Converting a certain suspension of doubt
And I weary of always hearing about
The eleventeen reasons it’ll never work out

{Chorus}
Oh, that’s me, I’m a four-panel cartoon
Carried away in a hot-air balloon
Y’all be singin’ a different tune
When I’m mining diamonds all over the moon

What misguided missiles of hostility
Flaming in amazing futility
Sometimes your punchlines are partly funny
An easy left jab at truth’s underbelly

Humor is more a mood than a sense
Dig all you want, I won’t take offense
I’m happy to laugh at my own expense
It’s a bargain at half the pretense

More than the sum of what I represent
In some random scheme of connected events
Classified as a bona fide quadruple agent
But I can’t say by whom or what I was sent

{Chorus}
