Locksmiths

By Indi Riverflow | February 13, 2014

There’s buried treasure
Deeply hidden
Maps to pleasures
Long forbidden
In a fortress tighter than Fort Knox
In a crazy maze of rusting locks

No one knows what shines inside
This gold that shows
What our blinders hide
Only that it glows
Just like the Zodiac
When a star’s giving birth
And sings like a thundercrack
At the dawn of Earth

{Chorus}
Locksmiths tinkering
With secrets of alchemy
Testing ring after ring
Of molecular keys
We can only guess
Unless we are free
If it will light the way
Or burn our eyes
Display the truth
Or a new set of lies

The soul’s safe-crackers
All want inside this vault
But there’s a sentry
Covering every entry
Waving guns and crying halt

Together they dove
Beneath the firmament
Recording each experiment
With a style meticulous
Dialing in the miraculous
Tracking lost passages
To the heart of bliss

{Chorus}

Unlocking the mind’s design
Carving new grooves
Along ever-finer lines
Shelves of strange potions
Born of chemical devotion
In the lab where many kinds
Of magical logic combine
