Time To Thrive

All the Valkyries have flown
Borne away to Asgaard’s gate
I’m left standing here alone
Cheating or being cheated by fate
As I survey the stains, and the slain
The brave in battle, the terminally vain
I wonder if it’s best to be on that flight
To push on past defeat
Or to fall in the fight

{chorus}
The more I live the more I mourn
Bearing the survivor’s scars
Since the day I was born
Another journey done
When mine has just begun
Shell-shocked and stunned
Each blast left me alive
Though I was outmanned and outgunned
In all this rubble
This weed found time to thrive

The darkness is shown
In the light of the sun
The dawn’s dewy moan
At what destiny’s done
What shadows have cloaked
The dust and haze have choked
An army of dreams which no longer might
Transit reality and emerge from the night

{Chorus}

All the soldiers I’ve known
Dashing boldly through the day
Chills me to the bone
All these bright lights
Have risen and tripped away
Leaving but a blazing mark
Legends sung of fading sparks
Ascending toward eternal skies
They form the constellations
I’ll sail when I die
